Emergence of high-temperature superconductivity at the interface of two Mott insulators

چکیده
Interfacial superconductivity has manifested itself in various types of heterostructures: band insulator-band insulator, insulator-Mott and Mott insulator-metal. We report the observation high-temperature (HTS) a complementary long expected type heterostructures, which consists two insulators, La2CuO4 (LCO) PrBa2Cu3O7 (PBCO). By carefully controlling oxidization condition selectively doping CuO2 planes with Fe atoms, suppress superconductivity, we found that arises at LCO side is confined within no more than unit cells (about 2.6 nm) near interface. A phenomenon overcome barrier will show up if excess oxygen present during growth. Some possible mechanisms for interfacial HTS have been discussed, attribute it to redistribution oxygen.

Interface high-temperature superconductivity
Cuprate high-temperature superconductors consist of two quasi-two-dimensional (2D) substructures: CuO2 superconducting layers and charge reservoir layers. The superconductivity is realized by charge transfer from the charge reservoir layers into the superconducting layers without chemical dopants and defects being introduced into the latter, similar to modulationdoping in the semiconductor supe...
متن کاملd-Wave superconductivity in doped Mott insulators
The effect of proximity to a Mott insulating phase on the charge transport properties of a superconductor is determined. An action describing the low energy physics is formulated and different scenarios for the approach to the Mott phase are distinguished by different variation with doping of the parameters in the action. A crucial issue is found to be the doping dependence of the quasiparticle...
متن کاملEmergence of superconductivity, valence bond order, and Mott insulators in Pd[(dmit)2] based organic salts.
The EtMe(3)P and EtMe(3)Sb triangular organic salts are distinguished from other Pd[(dmit)(2)] based salts, as they display valence bond and no long-range order, respectively. Under pressure, a superconducting phase is revealed in EtMe(3)P near the boundary of valence bond order. We use slave-rotor theory with an enlarged unit cell to study competition between uniform and broken translational s...
متن کاملDoping a Mott Insulator: Physics of High Temperature Superconductivity
This article reviews the effort to understand the physics of high temperature superconductors from the point of view of doping a Mott insulator. The basic electronic structure of the cuprates is reviewed, emphasizing the physics of strong correlation and establishing the model of a doped Mott insulator as a starting point. A variety of experiments are discussed, focusing on the region of the ph...
متن کاملMott Insulators, Spin Liquids and Quantum Disordered Superconductivity
These introductory lecture notes describe recent results on novel Mott insulating phases which are “descendents” of superconductors – obtained by “quantum disordering”. After a brief overview of quantum magnetism, attention is focussed on the spin – liquid phase of the two-leg Hubbard ladder and the nodal liquid – a descendent of the dx2−y2 superconductor. These notes are self-contained and an ...
